Hundreds of tiny eyes peep up at Alfie Green from the sink in his garden. Frogs! Who invited them? And when the frogs tell their friends and relations about their great new swimming pool, the place is invaded. Alfie needs help -- fast. This is a job for the magic book that Alfie has inherited from his granddad. And the magic book comes up with a very unusual way of solving Alfie's problem.
Joe O'Brien lives in Ballyfermot in Dublin with his wife and children. He is the author of nine books featuring Alfie Green, a boy who can talk to plants. For older readers he has written three books about Danny Wilde and his Littlestown Crokes GAA team, Legends' Lair (about Charlie Stubbs and his dreams of becoming a soccer player) and one fantasy novel, Beyond the Cherry Tree. He has appeared on RTE's The Den, TV3's Ireland AM and many radio shows. He regularly holds readings in bookshops and libraries around the country.
'Hilarious and full of surprises'
'For children to read for themselves I'd highly recommend Alfie Green. Alfie is mad about his garden, and when frogs start to invade he calls on his magic book for help. This is a charming tale full of gentle humour and perfectly pitched for even the must reluctant reader of 6+'
